3 new online tapestry workshops + 2 new online tapestry lectures!

I'm happily consumed right now with preparing to teach a series of Zoom workshops and lectures for the Weavers Guild of Minnesota.  Researching and planning new classes is one of my favorite things to do, and I miss being with fellow weavers, talking about our common passion. The cool thing is these classes are open to all, wherever you might be.  All you need is a way to connect through Zoom.  There are multi-day workshops in designing for tapestry and one hour-ish slide talks on aspects of tapestry design and contemporary work.. . something for all levels of experience and every budget.

The first workshop is Using Photos to Design for Tapestry, and it begins Saturday Feb. 13.  It's just filled, but they are keeping a waiting list.  If you're like many of us, you use your phone camera to take photos all the time, to remember scenes, colors, experiences and ideas that might become a tapestry. But how exactly do you make that leap? A photograph, I'm sorry to say, is rarely a good design for a tapestry right off the bat. Usually you need to simplify, transform, enlarge and adapt it to the needs of the tapestry medium and your own interests and skills. This class will help you do that. We'll be doing design work on paper, sharing feedback with each other, and looking step by step at several different approaches to take an image from photograph to a cartoon you can weave. We'll also talk about some of the pitfalls of using photographs (ask me how I know).  Click HERE to learn more about the class and to get on the waitlist. You can find a list of all of my upcoming classes with links to registration HERE

If you're disappointed that Using Photos is filled, here are the other talks and workshops.  I'm pretty excited about them all, but Building a Color Palette for Tapestry in April is one I've been putting together  for quite a while now.  It will be a good sequel to Using Photos (though the Photos class is not a prerequisite).  Registration is open for all the classes now.
